Ron Avenida is the Chief Operating Officer for Wheeler Trigg O’Donnell and has nearly two decades of experience leading midsize and Am Law 100 firms, where he has achieved exceptional results in promoting culture, leveraging technology, enhancing recruiting, and increasing profitability. In addition to previously serving as a co-founder and COO of a Silicon Valley startup, Ron is a founding board member of the Western Legal Leadership Council and a member of the Association of Legal Administrators. He serves on the Saint Mary’s College Graduate Business Alumni Council and the Cal Poly Center for Leadership – Alumni Mentoring Program.
Kara M. Brostron, CLM is the Director of Operations at Lashly & Baer, P.C., where she is responsible for human resources, benefits, insurance, continuing education, recruiting, training, information technology, marketing, and facilities. In 2019, she earned the “Certificate of Excellence” for craftsmanship in the design and production of engraved products by the International Engraved Graphic Association for her work on the firm’s annual holiday card, and in 2020, she was honored as both a Legal Unsung Hero by Missouri Lawyers Weekly and as a Best Boss by Small Business Monthly – St. Louis. Her foresight in implementing a paperless office and Remote Desktop System was invaluable to Lashly & Baer, its employees, and its clients, in creating the ability to work from any location. Kara is an active member of the Association of Legal Administrators – Gateway Chapter and is currently the Co-Chairperson of its Communications/Website and Comp and Benefits Teams. She also serves as the Chairperson of the Product and Service Review Committee for the Association of Legal Administrators.
Cheryl Coutchie is the Chief Operating Officer of Foster Swift Collins & Smith, PC, where she is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the day-to-day operations at the firm. Coutchie has nearly 30 years of experience in the legal industry, previously serving in the roles of Director of Human Resources and Director of Pricing & Process Improvement for a large Michigan law firm.
