Working remotely is becoming more commonplace in the legal industry. It presents many benefits and challenges. People have to be educated and adhere to new policies in order for remote work to be successful. In this presentation, we will discuss labor laws, insurance coverages, client and employee interaction and employer/employee responsibilities.

Learning objectives:

  • Develop a work from home policy which is compliant with applicable labor laws, addresses cyber security and clearly states employer and employee responsibilities.
  • Promote working remotely to upper management by clearly outlining the benefits such as cost savings on rent, employees will be more productive, experience less employee turnover.
  • Understand the challenges such as remotely participating in meetings, meeting with clients and interacting with one another. There are technologies available which are affordable which will alleviate some of these issues.
